Putting a CPU heatsink on a video card?

This should work, I'd have to mod the CPU heatsink to fit on the plugs that hold the videocard heatsink and fan on to make it fit. My friend might be letting me use a mini-orb to test this out. I know it would take up at least 2-3 PCI slots adjacent to my video card, but it could be worth it 🙂

Do you think the extra weight would harm the slot? I've seen that Leadtek Geforce 4 heatsink and a CPU heatsink isnt going to go anywheres near that i dont think.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

It would proably work, as long as the fan didn't put too much pressure on the card. Maybe put a little something under the heatsink to give it something to rest on?

I know a few people that have put CPU fans on a Video card so they could overclock the crap out of them. Seems to work fine as long as the fan is secure on the chip and the heatsink is stablized.

I could attach it to the chassis with some string or something, that would take the weight off. I also though of using a rackmount heatsink + fan, as the low height of them probably wouldn't mess with the PCI cards.
