Not exactly sure what it means, but what a strange place we find ourselves in. Trump is the conclusion to the Neo-Con dream of US domination of the 21st Century. He tried(s) to make a vassal of the World, but the World simply shakes their head at the gall of it all. Despite the US's Economic and Military power, its' real power is in the Worlds' respect for the founding Principles of the US. When Trump or any US Administration discards those Principles, the rest of the World loses all respect for the US, which undermines US influence. We first saw this happening with GW Bush and the Iraq War. We now see this happening with Trump on practically all issues of importance.
Actually, you are giving Trump too much credit. I strongly disagreed with the neo-cons under the Regan/Bush era, but at least i believe they were driven by a (however extreme and misguided) true idealogy. Trump on the other hand, IMO, is simply driven by ego-mania and a desire for power and attention. At least the neo-cons under Regan/Bush (es) didnt cozy up to possibly the two most evil dictators on the planet (Putin and Kim). Despite all the love from conservatives and evangelicals, again IMO, Trump is truly devoid of real beliefs and any sort of moral compass. His whole life is simply an extension of The Apprentice, putting one side against the other, and exercising his own ego. I came from a conservative religious background, and although not active in any church now, I still consider myself "religious". The unwavering support of such a shallow, egotistical, hateful liar by the evangelicals totally blows my mind.

It shouldn't, just shows the evangelicals true selves.

-Too true. Like everything else, the standards for decent global behavior have radically changed over the last 70 years from simply "not being the Soviet Union" to having to be an actual Western Liberal Democratic society and America (or more to the point the generations that we're molded by American Triumphalism) have had a rough time leading the US into the new century.

Trump is (hopefully) a last hurrah of the old guard trying to keep the world as it was, not as it is.

All of our hallowed ideals mean nothing to the world if even we don't follow them...

I'm too lazy to find the other SA thread about Koshoggi, so I'll post this here.

https://www.yenisafak.com/en/world/...ing-to-take-fall-for-khashoggi-murder-3468107

Looks like MBS tried to convince the assassin to take the fall for the whole thing, and he refused. Is now "in the hospital" with "a broken neck" and is under Saudi guard so no one can talk to him.

But MBS is Trump and Putin's good buddy, so move along, nothing to see here.

I see a 'sudden confession followed by an intravenous air bubble' in someone's future.

And of course, Jared is trying to help MBS in some way over this. A member of the White House advising him in how to deal with the act they don't think he did.
