Picking it up on Saturday
I went through AAA's car buying service. I strongly recommend it. No hassle, no dicker, great service. I'll never buy a car from a dealer again.
Details: got an '03, blue, sedan, 5-speed manual w/security system, prem sound, console armrest, rear spoiler, turbo gauge, and short-shift kit for $23,500 :)
Anyway, thought I'd share... something about buying a new car always makes me nervous

I'll try to post some pics on Sat or Sun.
Also, if anyone is interested in a '98 Integra GSR in excellent condition for a good price, send me a PM (but this thread is not about that, so mods don't lock and people keep it to PM, thanks).
Speaking of the old car, though, my insurance premium is going down $20/month. Go figure.

Wait are you insured by AAA too?... and your premiums went down even with a turbo car? ...

SWEET! Congrats on the new wheels man. I'm not familiar with this AAA car buying service. How does it work?

Nope. Progressive. I figure my premiums are going down because of the Integra's theft rate.

That probably is the case. The GSR is a theft magnet (I should know - mine was stolen and stripped!).

Yep, multiple car discount. But it'll be worth quite a bit more than half when I get it off the lot. I'm buying this thing under invoice, better than $3,000 off MSRP. And this is on a car that dealers absolutely refuse to move for less than MSRP.

Don't I know it! :frown:
A theft attempt has been made on mine almost twice a year for the 5 years I've owned it. One was just last weekend even (alarm going off, fingerprints and slim-jim marks on the passenger side). :|

AAA AutoSource
I filled out an online app and one of their reps called me back and walked me through the deal. I also tried through carsdirect.com but in end they couldn't get the car for the price they "guaranteed" and were somewhat rude about it.

edit: spelling typo

wrx=AWD, integra=Front wheel drive. That's why it's cheaper to insure the wrx than the integra. It's a safer car.
Safer car=less claims.

a few years ago the combination of awd and a turbo would give you a ridiculous premium... i dunno if that's the case now... doesn't seem like it. awd doesn't always mean it's safer though.

Don't know how it is up where you are, so that may be the case. But down here in California, dealers have been letting go of WRXes at invoice for years now. Within the past two months or so the 03's have been going for a good bit below invoice (commonly see them offered for $1000 under invoice). Last month someone in VA made out with a MY03 WRX wagon for $21873.43 out the door (including tax/tags/freight), pretty crazy if you ask me. :Q

Regardless, congrats on a sweet ride. Join the fun at NASIOC if you haven't already. :)

Thanks for the AAA link... My dad is looking into buying a car for my sister who is about to drive. I'll see if they can offer some cheaper deals than car dealers here in Southern CA.

Thanks for the link.
I pounded most of the dealers in town and none were willing to move an inch, but that was a few months ago and would never let any of them put me in the "box" (actual word used on car lots for the little cube where they work you over). Maybe I should have again but I'm pretty happy with the deal I got. Most likely I would have had to play the game in a dealer's "box" for 3-4 hours just to hope to get the same deal, so if I missed a few bucks, I'll consider it money well spent. But I doubt I did. I'm networked with a fleet manager for a local dealership and he couldn't beat what I got.

SOSTrooper, just FYI, you have to be an AAA member in order to use the service. Also, you need to go and test drive and spec out the car beforehand. It really is a service for people who know what they want but want to avoid the dealers. You know what you want, you tell them what you want, and they get you the lowest price without the haggle.

They're getting rid of the '03's cheap because there's a restyle of the lights next model year. I don't like US bug eyes, but the JDM bug eyes I actually prefer over the restyle.

Congrats on the car, my fiancees uncle test drove one and said he wasn't impressed with the lack of power and the turbo lag but I have never driven one and I know I am a more aggressive driver than he is so maybe that was the problem...
