I recently got rid of my old plextor scsi writers and readers and put in a plex 48/24/48 and toshiba 1502dvd player. Had trouble with the plextor so I upgraded everything from the bios on up to all the firmware, drivers, aspi layer etc., for the whole system. Now the plextor works perfectly. Using any audio player on the toshiba drive I can't hear any music but you can see the cd playing on the status bar. Another box pops up saying it can't find m2k.exe and without it audio files can't open up. I have sound with dvds in the toshiba. I have sound with cd's in the plextor. A search on the web for m2k.exe found a guy blaming a hacker for giving this problem to him. He said that he couldn't open any exe files without the message appearing and stopping his programs form running. I would like to cure this if anyone can help.

Not sure what m2k.exe is.

Try using the windows cd player to play the CD.

Also, make sure the CD-audio plug is plugged in to the sound card from the drive Ive forgot to do this countless times.

Other than that, try plugging in head phones (if it has a jack) to make sure the drive is playing correctly.

Go here, it talks about mp3 sites. Sounds like spyware, get adaware here to detect any. ( Version 6 due out in early Feb, unfortunately you'll have to wait a couple of days to see...)

I tried windows mediaplayer. The associations were somehow screwed up, changed them back and the toshiba now plays cds with mediaplayer only. When trying plextools v1.18 player or any other, you can't hear any music but the staus bars show that the cd is playing. This window still pops up looking for m2k.exe when I try any other player. Again the plextor plays cds with all programs. I used spybot and wiped out all instances it found. Still need help.
