I'm building a new system and wonder what will happen if I just take a ghost image of my current installation and just put it in the new machine? Will Windows boot? Is it smart enough to adjust itself and reload drivera for the new machine or will it just bug out?

It takes me DAYS to install all the apps I have and config everything. It's sooooo tedious. I know there's the files & sdettings xfer wizard but it's pretty spotty.

(For the sake of discussion, let's put aside the legal issue of installing the same s/w on diff h/w for the moment :) )

Use sysprep or do a Repair Install to clean out and reinstall the device drivers. You'll have to reinstall any security updates, but your applications will survive. You may be able to come up without doing this, but your drivers will almost certainly not be right.

Please search for NUMEROUS HUGE THREADS on how to do this, and there is also an AT FAQ/Guide on this topic.
