Put AS5 on my GTS 640 and temps went up 6-8C idle?

Why have the temps gone up so much?

What did you use to clean the old compound off? Did you use a thin layer? I'd redo the application and mount the heatsink carefully.

Thin layer won't work as the contact between stock cooler and core is terrible. I had to take the heatsink off and put a bit more, even then I think I was over conservative.
