Put as5 on, made temp go up? i DIDN'T put too much on!

i followed the instructions on the arctic silver website, adding as5 to the hs first, rubbing it in, and then wiping it off. i then put a dab of it on the corner of the cpu core and spread it out evenly with a credit card, just like the site says. i put everything together, and my temp goes from 37 to 39? what is this guff?? i dunno what's going on, but now my temp is at 41. anyone got a clue?
 
Give it a couple days to break in.

My temps always go up a degree or two when I reattach the Heatsink. After about a week, they're back to where they were.
