Congrats Don! I bet the extra waiting was painful.

Thanks Man and yes it was. I've been waiting for months

Just a turbo'd 4cyl putting out 200hp and 195lbs of torque. Should do 0-60 in 7 seconds flat. What i'm really interested in is the 38mpg on the highway

My first new car was an '86 Civic SI Hatchback in white.

In many ways, the Veloster reminds me of that car.

Except that you will have more power, better gas mileage, and a longer warranty.

I'm confident that you are going to enjoy your Veloster.

Think its a 1.6T. So power to displacement ratio is very good. I think they are claiming the crown for this one.

Actually I am looking forward to seeing this car go but don't expect much more than a 7 second car. Still have fond memories of the S-Coupe Turbo - which wasn't that fast but was just fun. Price wise this car seems a bit too close to the Mazdaspeed3 for my taste.

But lets face it the auto is the real reason it will sell well. People want a lazy quick car that won't break the bank on the highway.

OP: Congrats and enjoy the car. Fully expect pics and full report when you get her :)

Think more in WRX territory. You can get a MS3 for about 24k OTD.

Man that is kind of procey for FWD small hatch, esp. because the suspension is the same as the non-turbo correct? If so, that interior better be damn fine. Congrats though, I think it's a pretty sick looking car. Be sure to update us once you get it...

I don't think that is a competitive price for this car to be totally frank. It looks nice, though. The 38 mpg is impressive, but little more than noise if you think about the true cost of that vs, say, 33 or 34 mpg.

Congrats! Not my cup of tea but I'm glad to see a manufacturer listen and respond to what enthusiasts want.

I only paid a few K more for my 2012 Charger. I get 33 mpg on the highway thanks to the 8 speed tranny.

Not sure if its identical but its still some sort of beam axle in back. Plus, everything I've read says Hyundai in general still can't tune a suspension very well.

Yes, because that's a comparable vehicle that people cross-shop.
