I'm running Virtual PC 4 on my iBook (with 384 MB RAM and OS X.1) and I've allocated 128 MB to the Win 95 PC.

OK, it's not a real machine, but much memory can Win 95 and Win 98 SE really handle well? I don't want to run anything but 2D apps, but I wouldn't mind doing some multitasking. (Office, Internet Explorer in multiple windows, etc.)

OK, how about Win 98 SE since nobody knows anything about Win 95?

All of the 9x kernels crap out above 512 MB (you get out of memory errors when you try to open a dos prompt, among other things), anything up to that & you should be fine.

Microsoft KB article on the issue

I've run 512 MB in a 9x kernel machine with no trouble, I personally know at least one person who has run into the >512 MB issue. Took out the third 256 DIMM & everything was fine.
