Pushup question again

Nocturnal

Lifer
I can now do ten sloppy pushups. But, I don't feel that rip of my muscles. WHY? And how much do I have to do in order to feel it rip again? That ripping feeling is awesome! I did two sets of ten earlier today and I still don't feel my muscles ripped. TIA

Do them the right way. You'll find a proper pushup is FAR more difficult. Keep your ass down, and look forward. go down far enough to lightly touch your chin, chest, and hips to the floor, then push straight up the whole way. Do more sets if you still aren't feeling it.

<-does 5 sets of 50 pushups several times a week

Don't do 'sloppy' push ups. Straighten your arms all the way on the apex, and don't let yourt body fall to the ground (1-inch off the ground so that only your toes and palms touch the ground) on the bottom.

But it's nice to see that you're keeping it up! 🙂🙂🙂

its funny how people say they do like 60 pushups a day... but when you watch them do it, their ass is sticking out so high it looks like they're humping the floor.

That's a very broad statement. I do 250 and my form is fine.

better way to do a push up ->
lay on the ground put a bar in your hands add weight to the ends of the bar and push like you were doing a pushup 😛

I don't think he was singling you out. I'm fairly certain that me meant just what he said: some people say they can do 60/day when in fact they would be lucky to pull of 15 with proper form.

Works the same for gym users as well. I'm amazed on a daily basis at the number of people I see using horrendous form so that they can lift more weight. My personal favorite piece of "advice" received from one such person while doing a military press (I tend to bring the bar behind my head, stopping a bit above the top of my neck): "Yo man, you're going too far down...you only need to get your arms to 90 degrees. Anything more than that is too far." This coming from a guy that throws on 185 and moves it a grand total of 4 inches in both directions. Sorry bud, but I'd much rather see the results of proper form than try to "impress" the other gym users with how much weight I can incorrectly lift.

The funniest ill form is when people take 50lb dumbells or something very heavy and do standing curls...with their back and shoulders wiggling.

Here's some tips... try raising up your feet (like 1 & 1/2 feet off the ground) and doing the same with your hands on different sets.
Do sets with your hands at shoulder level and also wider stances. Make your push twice as fast as your release.

I remember in basic when we did our PC we had 6 flights out there, and if some idiot was messing it up, they wouldn't call up, so you'd be in the down position for 30-40 seconds or so a few times, and that got the burn going😛

The best ones are when your hands are directly underneath your chest, index fingers and thumbs touching. Awesome way to hit your triceps, but make sure your elbows are conditioned because it puts a pretty severe strain on them. Wide "stance" puts more emphasis on your chest.
