Trying to push my ram as far as i can without vodiing the warranty of 2.9V on my asus a8n sli deluxe mobo. Currently im running at 240HTT with 10x mutliplier and my ram is set at 400mhz in bios which cpu-z reports under memory at 240.00mhz freq @ 2.5-3-3-7. Im fairly new to this overclockign scene and A64's are alot harder to OC than i thought! but hey its a learning experience and im havin fun so w/e ...anyway im still kind of not sure how this 240 mhz came to be since i set my mem @ 400mhz in bios.. thats 200mhz each dimm but im 240mhz each dimm. my FSB:DRAM is CPU/10. Is there anything else i can do to get this ram pushin faster, i hear ppl saying they hit 7,000 mb/s and im currently at 6,400 ...so almost there but not quite.

Oh last question. if im at 240mhz..what DDR am i actually running at ? DDR480, PC 3800?

Thanks, please excuse my ignorance!

Check this thread .. i posted 7 posts down this should help

:)

EDIT: I think on the Asus setting the RAM to 400Mhz means that it is running 1:1 and not on a divider (AKA the default pc3200 speed)..so it will run at the same speed as the HTT setting in the BIOS, so any increase on that will increase you RAm to the same value, so as you have increased the HT to 240 .. you are getting 240Mhz HTT, 480 Double Data Rate (DDR), and PC3840 .. and you should be setting the LDT to a x4 multi

Setting your ram setting sets its ratio to the HTT (actually, it sets your ram ratio to the CPU clock speed). So if your HTT is 200 and your ram setting is set to 200MHz then your actual ram speed will be 200. If you raise your HTT you also raise your ram speed, even if you keep the same setting.

EDIT: And yes, your RAM is working at DDR480

hey i just ran 3dmark05 with the ram @ PC3700 b/c it crashed when running at PC3800 and it was doing like 3fps and the graphics looked disgraceful .... i had a score of like 4800 before and when i stopped this test it said i was just short of 5000 but i dont understand how i beat my old score..it looked horrible this time arround...last time it started to run slow..but it never came even close to 3fps. When i finished the benchmark my cpu temp was 41º ..is that anything to worry about on the stock amd fan? i also have 2 fans at the back of the case, one on the side and my PSU has a fan on the underneath and obviously out the back.

HTT = 230
cpu Mutli = 10x
CPU volt = 1.475
DRAM Freq = 400mhz
DRAM volt = 2.8V
Timings = 2.5-3-3-7 1T

any ideas?

which test did you run because one of the tests is supposed to test the CPU only (3fps ish is correct) .. and what is your GFX card.

Dont always use progs like 3dmark to ridicule your system.. i would play a high graphical game (BF2) using fraps, this program will be able to tell you frames per second whilst playing the game (its displays it on screen in the game), and using this you can tweak the graphical settings and see if you can still hold high frames per second, at your given settings.

im running a 256mb MSI x800 Pro PCI-E 16X i started the test and went to shower, when i came back it was running 3 fps so it may have been testing the cpu.... maybe it was, i should run it again and just let it finish..

is 41º anything to worry about on stock air?

try running it again .. and watch all of it, you will see the different tests as you go through and the different frame rates according to the different tests. 3DMark 05 is proper intensive, even for me at 1024 - 768, i have a BFG 6800 Ultra OC, and it battered my card.

Oh and 41º, should be fine .. mine idles at about 58-60º and its fine that is average temps for my card .. but then again i have a core that runs a lot hotter, with a hoover as a heatsink :p ..
