pushing my 3800x2

i am new to overclocking i just wasnt really into it at first but im about to go water cooled so i need to learn i have a 3800x2 and i want to push it its max speed is 3700 i would like to get it to 3.0 or even 2.8 i manually increased the speed in bios but i never touched the vcore or any other requirements there is cause i just dont know wat to do i used asus ai booster but all it does is lock my cpu up any help on over clocking an wat all i need to do


here is my computer setup
i am running xp64bit 2003
ram corsair xms ddr 400 x 4gigs timings 3.3.3.8
athlon 3800x2 @ 2.2ghz
asus a8n sli premium
1 raptor 74 gig
1 wd 250 gig
asus geforce 7800gtx
aero cool 550w psu
creative z soundcard :beer::)

Might consider grabbing a different PSU.

Amazing how people blow a few grand on other parts, then end up spending 60 bucks on a PSU..


The multipliers UP are always locked.

Using 4 gigs of RAM will limit how high your can go (severely).

I'd set a divider, notch it to 1.45 volts, and inch it up.
100Mhz integers, when it fails prime, knock it down in 50 Mhz integers unmtil it stops failing.
