Anyone got push start tales?
I only had to do it to my car once (helped friends cars several times)
I was parked on a steep incline in downtown Richmond, VA (similar topography to San Fancisco... hilly as a mofo)
Anyways, I was like 2/3 the way up the hill but it was so steep.. no way to push is over the top.. Just me and one friend
So we decided to gravity start it downhill... except in reverse.
Wasn''t even sure if it would work.
Well. I drop the E bRake ... Roll a bit turning to get in the midlde of the road.
Friend is at the bottom of the hill at the intersection looking for cars.
He gives me the green... I start the roll in reverse.. Speed picks up quicks.
Hard to contol reverse at like 20 mph on narrow street with cars parallel parked on both sides.
Im flying down now, about at a good speed to start it, but the intersection is like right there now. SO I gotta fly though it.. Its like movie style with a car flying behind me then one in front of me as I go through the intersection... I get a little air in reverse as the flat intersection drops into a hill again...
On the second descent, I pop the clutch and lo and behold YOU CAN PUSH START IN REVERSE!
I have to slam on the brakes cause the jump start combined with the extra gas made me go even faster down hill.... Finally stopped. shifted back to 1st... went up the hill and picked up my friend.
In all, it was a nice experiment.
