I have tried a new spark plug and after about 10 minutes it will die. I can take the plug out and clean it and the mower will run again, any ideas?

What is on the plug? Why are you cleaning it?

Is it smoking? If yes, what color smoke? A little smoke or a lot of smoke?

Is it using oil? What oil are you using?

What brand mower engine? How old?

I have noticed a small amount of black smoke at times. The first time I took the plug out and the end was completely black so I cleaned it and it ran and have been doing that since. It has been happening the past two mowings but my yard is 1.5 acres and I am tired of having to do it

If it's a gunky clogged plug then your burning oil, if it's a sooty black plug your running rich, possible sticking choke or carb problem. You need to give us the make of the engine, what size HP, ect..

Is it the right plug? If the plug isn't the right heat range, it may not be burning hot enough to keep itself clean.
