Purevideo and Vista

So after migrating over to Vista and finally starting to set my HTPC up, I'm a bit confused about something. I've read that latest Nvidia drivers for Vista have the Purevideo software for using the hardware acceleration built in, along with the Purevideo HD stuff. Now, I only have a 6600GT so I can't use HD acceleration from what I've read, but should I even bother to install the old Purevideo program I used back in XP? You know, for deinerlacing DVDs and such.

I wouldn't bother to install it. Assuming you have Home Premium or Ultimate, there's already an MPEG2 decoder included with the OS, and in my experience it works pretty well. I (seem to) get hardware acceleration even on my ancient 9700 Pro (mainly 720p/1080i HDTV in Media Center).

can i chime in and ask a question..its OT but i cant seem to get my resolution correct on my plasma 42" panasonic. I have forced the nvidia to use 1366x768 (native plasma reoslution) but the screen seems to stretch beyond the limits of the plasma screen by a bit. I mean I can still see mostly everything but those edges are annyoing when I am in MCE and trying to close a maximized window. Is there some sort of workaround? Sorry to thread-jack but thought you guys might know since yo guys seem to be HTPC people and Im a newbie at this...

I have a eVGA 7600GT hooked up through DVI-->HDMI adapter to HDMI on the TV. Thanks!
