pure GPU question x600 and x700

hello, i am new to the forum, abut i have a problem: i want tob buy a notebook that should be good for gaming, and i have to choose between the following mobiles: x600 or 9700 with 128Mb. I know from another post, that they are mostly the same. I have also read ,that the x700 is 2x as fast as the x600.

I have an offer close in price to the 9700, a little bit more expensive,like 60 Euros, with an x700, but only with 64 Mb. I know that the X700 is loads better than the x600, but is an X600 with 128 Mb better than the X700 with 64 ? or vice versa ? The X600 also comes with 512 more ram (like 1Gb) and is 100 Euros more expensive than the X700. What do you think, which one is better (in terms of Graphic performance), the X700 or X600 given the conditions mentioned above

Welcome to the forums, I'd go with the x700 and upgrade the system memory later.

X700 mobility benchmarks

By the numbers here a 9700 might be just as fast if not faster. However, the old 9700 mobility might be a severely cut desktop part (like less than 8 pipelines or slower clock speeds).

However if we compare X600XT and X700XT on the desktop, things get really confusing. In this case the X700 mobility is severely underperforming compared to x700xt desktop part = LINK

Then if anything is any indication, the x600 on the laptop is probabl slower than x600 desktop part too so it'll be slower. I doubt you'd need 1 gig of ram with either of these cards. They are just too slow. So i'd save $100 and get x700 part.
