That is so ridiculous, why would they limit your resources? I can understand if people are transfering like a few gigs a day, but why am I paying 50 dollars a month for 56k connection?
Is there any other solution for internet inside the dorms?

You dont pay 50 dollars a month. Its a one time 50 dollar payment. The reason they limit it is because there are so many people using computers and resnet. The problem arose last year when 7 users were responsible for ~90% of the bandwidth. So now they have taken measures to avoid that problem.

Also, the PUCC policy page that minendo linked to has the specific bandwidth limits. Also, don't expect to do alot of gaming on the Internet at Purdue. Most of the times the pings to novell.com are around 500ms if not higher. The only time the pings are reasonable are around 3AM to 10AM after that every thing goes down hill. Now there are game servers that are hosted internally on network that have little to no lag. If you are planning to host a game server I think that you wil be OK as for files I would make it password protected an only allow your friends to have access.

As for the best dorm. I would have to say Owen even though I am in Tarkington (which is right across the street). The food in all of the dorms is OK with Cary Quad being the best. Also, like minendo mentioned the 15 meal plan works the best. Owen has carry out so you can take food back to your room if you want to. Also the 15 meal plan has the $175 dining dollars (per semester) that you can use at the mini marts that are in some of the dorms (Tarkington & Meridith).

Gotta love the Purdue CS servers. As for lag, I rarely experience that;)
