Purchasing new car for brother...

Hey all, looking to buy my brother his first car and he likes mid-sized sedans. These are going to be all in the V6 variant.

2009 Camry LE V6
2009 Accord EX-V6
2009 Mazda6 S V6

We drove the Camry today and he enjoyed it. This up coming week I'm going to bring him to drive the other two. He wants 4 doors as well as automatic tranmissions. What do you guys think?

Car and Driver rates the Accord highest among those options, followed by the Mazda6. The Camry is hardly considered a contender in the class these days, with the exception of the Hybrid, which is still pretty good as far as mid-size sedan hybrids go.

Yea, i'm looking at reviews and there are great reviews for the Accord. We haven't spent much time looking at one yet, but we will in the upcoming days.

Mazda 6 has killer bang for buck but not exactly great mileage.

Accord is always a great choice but will cost the most. I wouldn't call the Accord or Camry midsize, they are fairly on the large side

But the Camry would be the last one I would buy on your short list there. Accord would be first. But the new Malibu would win if included.

i do not understand why magazines are so hung up on the accord...seems like the fix is in....i have driven all those cars....and in my opinion, other than the name, the FUSION is the best of them all. maybe not as much power, but more refined ride, more comforts, quieter...i would wait for the new 2010...looks to be very awesome...

HONDA HONDA HONDA....fanboy fanboy fanboy. they are okay, but use the dang cheapo plastic as the others, and the fit and finish is the same..but they are louder inside and their options packaging is the worst...sorry, want bluetooth...gonna cost you the NAVIGATION price....hoooey.

The new 6s and the accord V6 seems good, the camry should have decent resale value, and the altima SE with CVT should be cheaper than the other cars.

how about a used G8 GT for $18k?

I'm not very concerned about resale value as he's going to be keeping the car until the wheels fall off.

Damn snow storm up north. I'm going to have to check with the Fusion as well.

In order...

2010 Ford Fusion (will hit lots in early Feb)
2009 Mazda 6
2009 Honda Accord/2009 Chevrolet Malibu
2009 Hyundai Sonata
2009 Toyota Camry

that is how they will be ranked, and that is how i would put them

I'd check out the fusion and malibu, the camry is valium on wheels compared to the Mazda, Ford or Chevy. The Accord is a decent reliable vehicle but IMHO it just doesn't have the same feel as the other cars. Also, for a Ford or GM vehicle right now you'll get a better deal because they're desperate to move vehicles.

I went though this not long ago and ended up with an 06 MB E350 4Matic for US23k...

but of the bunch I liked the new 6 the best

Yea I would think you could get a comparable Domestic for much cheaper.

The mid-sized segment is very competitive right now. I'm sure he'd be hapy with any sedan in that class. Especially since he isn't paying for it.🙂

As the others said, the SE trim is the only Camry worth getting. The Accord and Malibu are my favorites in the class. If you wait about a month, you can check out the updated Fusion too.
