Purchasing a data SIM in Japan

Does anyone have any experience buying a sim card for data use in Japan? I'll be visiting for a week and don't want to be caught in the middle of Tokyo without a lifeline. I'm leaning toward using econnect, which provides 1GB of data for about $50 shipped.

Seems expensive but I can't seem to find a better option. I'm using a GSM galaxy nexus.

Thanks.

Seems like econnect is one of the cheapest and most convenient. I'll probably just go with that.

Your hotels will have wifi. But it's next to impossible to get free wifi anywhere else. I don't understand what you mean by 'lifeline'.
