Hey guys, about to take delivery on a Vertex 3 120GB, any recommendation on a SATA 6Gb/s host adapter?

The ASUS Model U3S6 USB 3.0 & SATA 6Gb/s Add-on card doesn't seem to be available anymore and the only other solution, the HighPoint Rocket 620 PCI-Express 2.0, seems to be a hit or a miss on reviews.

Do any of you have experience with a SATA 6Gb/s SSD and an add-in card for my P55 based mobo?

Because it was junk. :)

The lowest cost LSI stuff is @ 200.00.

You won't be missing much, if any, on a SATAII port.

Just enjoy your new drive!

Yeah most SATA-III add-on cards suck or then they are too expensive.

in your case I would have bought a Intel G3 drive assuming it would be cheaper than the vertex 3. In real world usage you won't notice a difference unless you do some very unusual stuff. Hence I would just try it out on SATA-II as mentioned before.

I've read that H67/P67 boards with onboard SATA 6Gb/s controllers work great with Vertex 3 drives. From what I read here it looks like it would make more sense to upgrade to 1155 than buy add-on card. Or just use it with SATAII...
