OK, so I have downloaded and installed the Windows 7 RTM, specifically:
7600.16385.090713-1255_x64fre_client_en-us_Retail_Ultimate-GRMCULXFRER_EN_DVD.ISO
It runs a treat, but I have a few questions...
1. Is this version identical with the retail version that will be released shortly?
2. Assuming yes to question (1) above, can I just purchase a Product Key from Microsoft and enter this into the activation process, so that I don't have to reinstall everything?
3. I have currently set-up a dual-boot scenario with Vista 64-bit. If the answer to (2) above is in the negative and I have to do a reinstall, and I choose an upgrade version, will the installation process simply ask for a Vista Product Key as proof of upgrade, or does the installer have to detect a copy of Vista actually installed on the PC?
Sorry if the questions are not as clear as you would like.
Thanks heaps for any assistance. 🙂
I'm going to have to go ahead and lock this. We generally assume you guys are playing by the rules, but this is a bit too flagrant in the "I illegally downloaded Win7" department. Anything where you admit to pirating something crosses the line of acceptability. (Although I'm glad to see you're making an effort to go legit.)
