It's a picture. Of a dog. A dead dog. On another continent. I'll agree that there's something seriously wrong with kids using a puppy as a soccerball, but WTF am I gonna do about it? There's absolutely nothing I could do, so I'll just make tasteless jokes. If losing sleep over the whole thing makes you feel better, you're welcome to continue doing that.

Every time there's a video posted here in which a person gets injured/beaten/mistreated, the response is generally along the lines of, "OMGWTFPWNED!!!".

I think he means adults, and I agree. Dogs are a lot like children (minus the mean streak) in that they're helpless to avoid it or fight back and rarely deserve it or are asking for it when life sh*ts on them.
