Ok.....so my Ex-GF wanted a dog so I decided we could get one and keep it at my apartment. Well we ended up breaking up and now I'm stuck with this puppy that I really don't want. The only problem is I don't want to give it to the pound and be put to sleep. I've been doctoring it for a week or so because it has ringworms all over it.

Should I try getting rid of the ringworms and put it in the paper or just put it down???
Its about 8 weeks old and it came from a hell hole house.
 
fix the ringworms if you got the cash to spare - let someone adopt it for free

-it isn't the puppies fault, so don't kill it.
-if you dont' have the cash, start posting on craigslist or look for places to help get it fixed up for adoption
 
wait... you say ringworms... they way you worded your sentence, i am thinking that you are seeing actual worms? are you?

 
Ok, next question.....anyone know whats best to get rid of ringworms??? We took her to the vet and they gave us some greasy spray stuff but it doesn't seem like its working. The ringworms seem like there spreading more. Were taking her back Thursday to the vet. We've also bathed her in water+clorox every three days or so to try to help. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Not actually, its mainly patches on her fur thats bare. I'm afraid its something worse but thats what were going to check Thursday when we take her to a different vet.
 
so, i take it that the vet told you that it was ringworm?

ringworm is like jock itch or athletes foot. it does not go away after one treatment. i am surprised that he only gave you one cream. many vets take a more bold approach and use more aggressive treatment. i know that my cat that had ringworm had pills, a shampoo (try wetting down a cat, putting on shampoo and waiting 10 minutes before rinsing) and a medicine that was... well it was toxic, so after she was given the dose, we had to watch her for a few hours to ensure she did not convulse.

but the ringworm was gone in about 2 weeks.
 
Put up signs at petstores and post it on craigslist.

As far as ringworm, that is a fungal infection and you need some meds from a veterinarian to treat it. The OTC crap from petstores probably doesn't work. If you are seeing actual worms they are probably maggots. If you daignosed it yourself you may be wrong and it could be mange.

That sounds a bit harsh unless its <=1% chlorox. Don't stop with the medicine until after any signs of the infecton are gone.

Are there places other than the pound were you can surrender the dog? Look for places like the local Humane Society, SPCA, or animal shelter. There are many "no kill" shelters around as well. An 8 week old pup has a good chance of getting adopted.

..if you just want to get rid of it look for a rescue group in your area. They'll take it and will make shure it goes to a good home.
