Punkbuster problems with Cod4

Something isn't working with my punkbuster. I don't know what's wrong, I just know it keeps kicking me and I can't play. I'm getting "PunkbusterB heartbeat stopped" and "losing packets" and stuff like that. I've got a great connection and wasn't have this problem until I started playing again yesterday.

Can anyone recommend some troubleshooting tips? Last night I thought it might be because I had lots of other things using my net connection, uploading stuff etc, but it's still not working today and I've got everything else closed down.
 
try manually updating with pbsetup, or re-installing with pbsvc.

since version 1.7, cod4 has become prone to corruption in the pb dll's. if you see an error box referring to pbcl.dll or similar, cut the .dll out and paste it on the desktop. then manually update pb and try to play. if it works, delete the .dll from your desktop.
