I have been GUID banned for no reason on COD4. I tried updating it and I'm still getting banned. I have never used any cheats. WTF???

Do you just rip the ISO from the DVD and then mount it with Alcohol 52%?

I thought PunkBuster scanned your system from programs such as Alcohol 52%.

So does that mean the disc is required for multiplayer? In the last 2 games it was only needed for the single player campaign.

I hate punkbuster too. Not for the same reason but I do have fair amount of problems at times with this buggy software.

yes but I have used them with COD1, CODUO, and COD2 and I have never had any problems.

So, you're complaining that the software did its job? I dont get it..........

QFT. Regardless of whether or not you think it's right to be able to use a no-cd patch (I personally have no problem with it as long as you legitly own the software), you circumvented copyright protection and punkbuster found out - that's what it's supposed to do :p

Punkbuster doesn't give a crap about copy protection. But what it does care about is the accuracy of the binary files. You start replacing files and it considers you "modifying game content" as it should.

Pfft, I'd rather run with PB enabled and NOT get my ass raped by worthless cheaters, though. Using a CD isn't THAT bad, is it?

I guess I'm just old fashioned. :p

Yes, but it will save it as an .mds file and you will have to select certain profiles for the ripping process depending on the game, PM me for more info.

I was not aware of this, but I am not familiar with new versions of PunkBuster, perhaps you are thinking of Sony's SecuROM DRM that is so popular these days?

I feel the same. I just use my discs. PB, while a POS, does its job. And I have a fair chance of actually sniping a few before getting my ass served. :)

What Schadenfroh is talking about, I believe, are mini-images. These are like 5MB (if that) images that you can mount and have the same effect as no-cd cracks but without having to modify the local files and possibly break something. The benefit of a mini-image is that you don't need to have massive DVD sized images on your local disk for games that you purchased and have valid media for.

I don't have issues putting in CDs and I love the theory behind PB. I just wish PB didn't kick me from servers as much as it does when I have no 3rd party software installed at all. It's frustrating. It needs a lot of bug fixes.

Lot's of kicks from PB are related to the version someone running not being up to date. There is something called PBsetup or whatever that can be downloaded. It is a standalone agent that can scan and detect the various versions of PB based on game and check if it is up to date. If it isn't up to date for a specific game that can explain why you may be getting falsely kicked.

I dont think PB scans your system for programs such as Alcohol or Daemon Tools. Or, if it does, it doesn't do anything about it. I've got both on my machine and play PB-enabled games all the time. I think you're referring to the ScrewuROM stuff.

I tried that in the past. It didn't work :(
