RT article with trailer.

I thought Thomas Jane did a great job in the last Punisher movie, wtf didn't they use him again?

I even recall reading something awhile ago where he said he'd be up for doing the role again.

Damn that's disappointing :(

Rotten Tomatoes 11% Good going Marvel!

I still think they should have kept Thomas Jane.

Dolph Lundgren version still the better one. What does that tell you of the franchise?

dolph haha the guy is like 50 and a rocket scientist.

both would have been a good choice. Owell.

I still think Bana would be great for a hulk sequel.

He wanted to do it again, but refused after reading the story they came up with.

?Punisher fans are already fighting an uphill battle as it is. And I?ve always felt a responsibility to fight that fight for them and with them so that Frank Castle gets the treatment he deserves.

What I won?t do is spend months of my life sweating over a movie that I just don?t believe in. I?ve always loved the Marvel guys, and wish them well. Meanwhile, I?ll continue to search for a film that one day might stand with all those films that the fans have asked me to watch.?

What do you mean? It sounds like you never saw the Punisher film from the '80s with Dolph

Thomas Jane backed out after they scrapped the original plans and director for a sequel. He saw it was going to turn into a piece of crap and smartly stepped away.

That's such a stupid argument. Like the guy had high standards to agree to do the first one? That movie was beyond awful, even if he worked pretty well as the main character.

I have no idea if the new movie is going to be good or not (looks like it could go either way from the teaser trailer. Either good, or crap, probably no in-between), but to say "it was going to turn into a piece of crap" is a bit silly considering the franchise was already there.

That being said, I really like Ray Stevenson in that role too though.

I didn't think it was a piece of crap. I didn't think it was particularly well done, but it wasn't a piece of crap on the level of say Electra or Daredevil.

Actually, the Director's Cut of Daredevil is pretty decent (the theatrically released version was garbage though). But I'd say Punisher and Elektra were about on par with one another from a "they seriously thought this was going to work?" standpoint.

I disagree...Punisher was different from Daredevil and Elektra in that it wasn't full of CGI . Punisher was much grittier backed by a better cast. It wasn't as cheesy as the other two. Daredevil could've been better but Ben Hoofleck ruined it. Electra was unwatchable.

I watched TJ in the last Punisher and I wasn't impressed. He and Travolta weren't bad, just not as good.

Hopefully, this new cast <director, actors> and new direction <darker> will revise the franchise <like the last Batman and the one coming up>.
