I don't care for Jack Daniels or any other bourbon-type of whiskey, (drank too much of it one time...can't even tolerate the smell) but it still seems like a horrible waste of good whiskey.
The story in the morning paper said some of the stuff is nearly 100 years old, (as was mentioned in the OP)...that ought to have some serious collector value.

Auction it off and use the money for something good...instead of pissing it away like most governments usually do...

So they'll sell the bottles that can legally be sold in the state. The rest they obviously can't sell, because it's illegal to sell it. It'd be kind of hypocritical for the state to sell something that is illegal to sell.

So sell it out of state. ;)
