I don't really know much about punching bags but I'm going to pick one up for my attic to hang from the rafters. I'm considering the 70 lb Everlast bag as it is decently priced at ~$90. I am a fairly large guy (6'1" at ~215 lbs) I just don't want to get too light a bag and have it flying all over the place.

Suggestions?

Watch for sales at sporting goods stores. I paid about $60 for the Everlast 70 pound bag I had. 70 pounds was ok for my light use (5'11", 180 pounds), but you might need a heavier one, especially if you're serious about using it a lot.

Well this bag looks pretty good and it actually qualifies for free shipping even at 100 lbs!

I guess I will also need to pick up some bag gloves.

I paid $50 for one an Everlast Soft Flex bag (80lbs filled) a couple months ago on clearance at Sport Authority.

You should just get Mike Tyson's Punchout(tm) for the Nintendo(tm) Entertainment System

Not sure about weights, but just stay away from those inflatable bags or anchored/non-hung ones. I don't have any beams to hang one to so I got an inflatable one a while back. Long story short, it's a useless POS. From the reviews I've read, same goes for the anchored ones (water/sand bases).

I would also get the 100lb bag. I got a 70lber for $30 used. I ended up taking some of the soft filling and putting my own sandbags in it to get it up to 90 lbs. Also be sure to get good handwraps. I would recommend the 180" mexican hand wraps.

http://www.ringside.com/ is a great place for gear.

http://www.ringside.com/DETAIL.ASPX?ID=25209 - Handwraps for $4.49 a pair.

I would also look into the "super bag gloves" not the little 4oz bag gloves that are just a piece of lether. I like these http://www.ringside.com/DETAIL.ASPX?ID=25083 b/c they are fairly cheap
