Punchclock manipulated at work

So I'm punching out today, after staying 15 minutes overtime. It's well known here that its better to punch out 1 minute after (ie 6:46), so you get credited the extra time.

I'm waiting by the clock, at 6:45, seems like the longest minute ever. I frequently compare the punch clock to my phone's time. Then it changes from :45 to :47!? This is the second time this has happened (that I actually saw). Is this normal? Is this legal ?

No this is a fairly detailed LED, so the 5 has the straight edge at the top. I actually watched it change from a 5 to a 7. I wish I had a video phone for evidence.

True, but 6 and 5 are 1 segment apart on a 7-segment LED display. OP says that the clock was more detailed which throws my theory out the window anyway.
