Punch Outs for 4 post mounting

I have a system here that has the ASUS a7n8x-la motherboard. It was a compaq pull from what I understand. However when looking at the board the four holes used to mount heatsinks are still covered with what appears to be a copper foil. Can I just punch those hole out? or do I have to use a heatsink with a clip that clips to the socket 462 frame?
