I tried watching it last night and almost gave up on it 3 times in the very painful and boring as hell first 15 minutes. Then I fell asleep and woke up and turned it off.

My god - it was SO slow and the background music was making my fiance nautious...

It was definitely different. I liked it OK, at least it was not formulaic in any way.

Yup, it's worse than Manos: The Hands of Fate and Leonard Part 6.

Same. Me and the wife liked it, but it's definately a weird offbeat movie. Some people love it, some people hate it.

Wait! You still have to see the new J-Lo - Ben Affleck (AFFLACK!) movie before passing such judgement!

I adored that movie... One of my favorite romantic comedies... But it bombed at the box office so obviously many people disagree with me..

I watched the whole thing. It's just one of those movies that has a hidden meaning. Maybe watch it again with the intent to understand it.

The opening scene was awesome though, it was so out of the ordinary. haha

I liked it, but definitely not one to watch with people you normally watch Sandlier movies with (unless it's your SO). I thought the surround ambient effects sounded great in the theater. It's the first time I think I've heard surrounds used that way in a movie.

I found the background music very distracting myself, but they did it for a reason. Overall, I liked the movie, though.

I didn't like the movie very much, but I loved it when he beat those guys up and then went to Utah with the phone in his hand.

How many people like offbeat movies and how many like the notion of liking offbeat movies?

this was an awesome movie. i wish people could watch just as a great film not just an
Adam Sandler movie. Give him the flexibility to make a movie different from his usual comedy.
Think of Jim Carrey when he did The Truman Show after years of comedies. Come on guys give
him a chance.

I like some offbeat movies, but then there's some that just don't work for me. I read reviews of Punch Drunk Love and the idea behind it just doesn't appeal to me enough to want to rent it.

I am a big fan of off beat movies. It is just that this movie sucked. It was clear from about 5 minutes of the movie that he was a social misfit who had tropuble with people. The next 30 minutes added little plot and little character development. I can handle a slowly developing movie if it actually develops...

Theres a difference. Truman Show was an excellent movie.. Punch Drunk Love was a piece of crap with irritating music, and an INCREDIBLY dragging story.

I wonder why I was engaged through out the entire movie.... I think paul thomas anderson's movies ALWAYS have great sound tracks... Magnolia, boogie nights, and PDL.. Come on, what's more original than having a song from popeye during a dramatic scene?? That's the problem with being original or creative - either people embrace you or they reject you (some people don't like the challange to the status quo)..
