Punch block to extend ethernet cabling?

Let's say that a network closet/cabinet needs to be moved to a different room. Without ripping everything out and starting over, is there a method by which the current cables can be extended?

What about using a punch down block such as a 66 or 110 wiring block to tie into the ends of the cables already in the closet and also to reconnect, and thus, extend new cabling from that will eventually terminate in a different room?

Its not the way to do it properly. You CAN do it, but I'd derate the length you can run it and manage full speed.

Ideally you'd have one continuous cable. If you can do that, I'd go with a patch panel and wire the old and new wires in to the patch panel and then do patch cords between the ports of the cables you want extended. That or use a simple female to female RJ45 connector.

An RJ45 patch panel would do a better job than 66 or 110 blocks. It's doable but as said you might not get the full bandwidth or length.
Depending on the scenario I've run fiber from the new place to an old closet as it's much less hassle than running multiple lines of CatX.
