punbb vs minibb?

I posted in software, but 2 days no response... so maybe some ATOTs have some insight.

I wanted to transition off of phpbb because some of my users thought it was confusing and over-bloated. I'm also much of a minimalist myself. Anyone have experience using either of these? I'm sure I can tweak phpbb to be simpler, but I wanted to minimal setup as well.

Also, anyone know of autolinks capability/plug-ins for either of these?

I would tweak phpBB. Tons of support, tons of hacks, lots of flexibility.

Just pare dwon your current installation.
 
Tweaking phpbb is too much work and I think it is a bit bloated. I'd have to change it completely. All I want to be able to do is in minibb and punbb except for autolinks. I'm just wondering which is better.

I did like Invision Power Board, too bad it isn't free anymore.

I will check out simplemachines as well, BUT anyone use either of the above. I know heatware uses minibb.
 
Older IPB is free but IPB is even more feature laden than phpBB is.
