My friends and I are in disagreement,. He says they work the Triceps While it is apparent to me as it's always been that the Bicep is doing most of the work. Since i've never had sore triceps doing pullups.

Chin-ups (fingers facing in) with narrow grips will work on the biceps.
Pull-ups work on triceps, back muscles.

Pull-Ups
Areas worked: Latissumus Dorsi, Rhomboids and lumbar (lower back) area. Heavily emphasising the entire Lat body.

Starting Position- Full length hanging from bar. Overhand grip (palms facing away from you) with hands a little wider than shoulder width.

Chin-Ups
Areas Worked: Latissimus Dorsi, biceps, and forearms, heavily emphasizing biceps. Abs are a secondary muscle group

Position: Standing below a chin-up bar, reach up and grasp the bar with an underhand grip (palms facing back toward your face). Your hands should be about shoulder-width apart.

Chin ups are generally easier to do for most.
