pulling out power adapters

I just got a notebook and it's a lot more convenient pulling it out from the notebook first and leaving the the power adapter hooked into the wall. Is that wrong? Unfortunately the notebook manual is scant - 5 pages and says nothing about anything.

I'm asking because all my hardware manuals, and the cable modem guide especially said to pull it out from the wall first. All other appliances are like this, but is there a reason behind this? They just say don't do this and I listen (and don't know why) but with the notebook it's a lot easier pulling it out next to me to roam a bit.

Well I think the main reason is that if you leave it plugged in to the wall, and pull it out of the notebook/applience etc. there is a chance of causing a short as you pull it out..and that could fry something..however I have yet to see that happen.
