Just need to buy a case in town. Have Vista, second harddrive, dvd writer, sound card and 22" and 19" LCD monitors, so I think I'm set. Total cost about $1300 shipped, plus case.

Good deals? feeling pretty stoked on the items after MANY hours of research. Gonna OC for sure and decided on Q6600 due to the fact I two box in EQ2 alot on one system and this I hope will help, as well as much multitasking during gaming. Chose the Palit 8800GT due to a) best price and b) solid cooling.

All purchased at NCIX.com a few minutes ago. Canadian prices.

Nice setup you have there. I ordered the Palit 8800GT Sonic 650Mhz myself a few days ago for the same reasons. If you look at Palit's website, they are showing that the Palit 8800GT 600Mhz comes in 2 versions. One with the blue custom heatsink/fan and one with the reference standard flat cooling heatsink/fan. Make sure you're getting that blue custom cooler.

I would have gone with a cheaper motherboard (Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R Rev 2.0) to save some dough since I don't need SLI, 1394 firewire. The DS3R Rev 2.0 also have 8 USB ports on the I/O back plate and superb on-board sound. Other than that, you did your homework and got yourself a very nice system.

Looks like you did your research. Perhaps slight overkill on the motherboard, but that's it I guess. Don't see a chassis btw ?

Yeah I could have gone just IP35 or DS3R but I got so much of it cheaper than expected I figured I'd go with a motherboard that has good overclocking as well as very good stock cooling, that'll fit the large heatsink. I saved like $200+ on CPU, GPU, Ram, HDD, PSU so the extra $50 wasnt bad. I still came in under budget so I'm happy.

And yes i'll be buying case in town

I hope you ordered a bunch of 400 grit sandpaper and some 800 and 1200 grit as well. The thermalright ultra 120 extremes are having some quite notable quality control issues and I can almost guarantee you that you will have to lap it just to get proper contact with it. Sorry.

Oh, and I like the scythe slipstream series of fans better. They have better airflow in higher restriction and have a broader range to adjust through.
