Pulled out an old CUSL2-CB, RAM Problem

I decided to play w/ some old computer parts to make a little server at home. I went to my closet and pulled out an old computer that has the CUSL2-CB mobo. It only had PC100 256mb ram in it.

So I read the manual which states it supports PC100/PC133 up to 512mb total. And each slot can hold up to 512mb. So I went ahead and bought 1 PC133 512mb stick. But no matter what the motherboard only detects 256mb?!?! If that stick is in by itself its 256. If I put in the older sticks along w/ it, it only detects 256mb.

Can you guys think of anything? I havent looked at this for a couple years so I can't remmeber anything. I even flashed to the new bios.

I kind of remember that these motherboards have three slots for ram and that you can have 2 256 dimms, or one 256 and 2 128s to get to the 512. It may not register the 512 on one 512 stick. It should be in the manual, otherwise maybe you could download the manual from ASUS. Funny, I've thought of using mine as a whs but it would require 512, and I have only 3 128 sticks in it.

I guess I figured out what happened. I ended up buying "high density" RAM. I guess this mobo doesn't support high density.

The only problem left is windows is not telling me the correct CPU speed.
