They're not "exposing themselves in public". Sure, it looks stupid, but all the people I've seen who sag wear underwear, and in many cases wear shorts as well under their pants.

I'm with mercanucaribe. Stupidity should be subject to societal, but not legal, disapproval.

And that ppl who came out of prison wore them like that in the street to send a message that they survived prison so were tough.

So sagging your pants is a sign to other gangsters that you're an easy target?

It isn't pleasant to see all these people with sagging pants, but it shouldn't be a law. Also if the cops are targeting blacks or mexicans with this law, one thing is for sure it gives the cops an advantage if they have bagging pants... can't run any races with pants around your ankles.

I've always heard that it is a "prison" look because they always take your belt and don't allow prisoners to wear one (for obvious reasons).

Pants that fit will stay on the waist with or without a belt, unless purposely pulled lower, no?

I have never had ill fitting jeans, nor have I ever thought about wearing them ghetto style, so I would not know this stuff.

Why do they only talk about baggy pants and boxers? I wear my jeans tight and low showing briefs, and feel discriminated against.

Most prison-issued clothing isn't exactly the best-fitting stuff on the market. It's not huge, but I'm fairly sure they only have a select few set of sizes, and just give you what's closest to being right.

I just don't get how these guys wear their pants like this. This actually started becoming popular quite awhile ago, in my late high school years (i graduated 1994), but I never did it. I see them all the time in Oakland, CA where I work. Usually their pants are sagging so much they either have to hold them up with one hand while they walk, or they don't hold them but every 5 feet they need to put them up some so they don't fall all the way down. This is almost always with a cell phone on one ear. So one hand holding the cell, one hand holding the pants. Apparently this is supposed to look good. Plus, so they can walk with their pants around their frigging knees, they swing their legs in some odd way.

That said, making this a law is ridiculous. Where does it stop?

Good. Make them bleed from their wallet (which shouldn't be at knee height). Pants should be worn around the waist, not the ankles (unless in the bathroom).

Or the bedroom, the backseat, etc

Something else I would not have known.

I am with you. I think law inforcement has better things to do then to check how people wear their pants.

Actually it was told to me by someone who used to volunteer his time to hold AA meetings in prisons. He is a genuinely good hearted, honest guy... so I think the guys in prison really convinced him that this was true. Whether they were pulling his leg or not... I have no clue.

I think your friend might have gotten more than his leg pulled while he was there. :D

About god damn time. I've always wanted to thump those people upside the head. Back when my son was in high school, he tried that. He got away with it for about 5 minutes, til I layed down the law. Parents who allow their youngsters to dress like that, should have their ass shot off!

keep telling yourself that
If your kid wanted to wear his pants low he just did so when you wouldn't see, and laughed at you behind your back.
How exactly did you "lay down the law ?"
You really felt the need to control your kid's life so much as to regulate his dress? When the boy was in high school? Drugs, drinking, and sex fine, but god forbid you show some of your boxers!

This fine wont change a thing

Kids who have no fear or respect for their parents will, indeed, behave as such.

QFT ;)

ROFL... what a stupid website! I remember visiting the KKK website, I was like...... WTF are these kids doing in the posted pictures, holding signs of stupidity in supporting the group. I swear some people have too much time on their hands!
