Public WiFi Solution Needed

I apologize for the length of this post. I just want to make sure anyone who reads this understands exactly what I'm asking. :)

I'm the IT manager for a construction company, and our main product is apartment complexes. Typically, the very first building that is complete on each site is the clubhouse. Part of my job requires me to go out to each clubhouse and set up their networks (two separate networks, one for the leasing side, one for the tenants), along with all of the PCs, printers, etc.

Part of this setup is public wifi that we broadcast out of the clubhouse, and out to and over the pool area. In the past, I've simply purchased a Buffalo solution:

- WHR-HP-G54 router, flashed with Tomato
- WLE-HG-NDC antenna
- WLE-RMC connector
- WLE-LNC Pigtail Adapter
- WLE-CC20 coax cable

These products all worked great, and provided exactly what we needed: complete wifi coverage over the pool area and just beyond.

Fortunately, as the injunction was just hitting Buffalo last November, I was able to load up on the routers listed above (I bought 15 right before they stopped selling them). Unfortunately, I'm now out of routers and I have to come up with another wifi solution for my clubhouses.

What do you recommend? It doesn't have to be anything fancy, as you can tell from the products listed above. A router, an antenna, and a relatively long cable to hook them up (the cable is run through the clubhouse during construction, and the antenna is on the outside of the building; the router is in the 'cyber cafe' on the inside).

I've looked up a few things, but nothing strikes my fancy just yet. I'm disappointed with the injuction against Buffalo as that solution was perfect and I loved those little routers.

Thank you!

If not Buffalo, get a linksys wrt-54gl. It just plain works, whether you are using tomato or dd-wrt, opensrt, etc.

I personally stick to the aforementioned model router in our WDS network here at work and it's great.

In your case all you would need to do is buy antennas.

Hmm.. DD-WRT makes the WRT54GL feature rich, but the WRT54GL Wireless capacity is Mediocre and bellow.

Firmware can not change what the Hardware of the Wireless radio is lacking.

I.e. the Wireless part of the WRT4GL stays mediocre with DD-WRT too.

I know...don't rub it in:( As I said I offset it by using multiple units.

there are plenty of WHR-HP-G54's on ebay...youll pay close to $100 for each, but its a proven solution.

as jack mentioned, cisco/proxim/aruba all make quality products but they're not cheap.
