If you run a print shop and print pretty pictures all day your $2500 color laser printer will eat $180 color toner cartridges like candy.

Yes, that is normal. Yes, we do expect you to know that. No, you cannot compare cartridge life between two totally different printers with totally different toner cartridges.

Why do people have to be so stupid?

Me: That is normal operation, if you print at more than 5% coverage per color you will get less than the rated cartridge life. You are averaging nearly double for the life of the printer, & probably higher on your last cartridge.
Her: None of your sales information says that (actually, it does), nobody ever told me that cartridge life will vary based on how much printing you do per page.
Me: (mutters into muted phone)
Him (gotta love speakerphones): We're getting much lower life per cartridge than we did with our last laser printer (model number I don't recognize).
Me: Different printers use different sizes of toner cartridges, there is no way to compare two different models.
Him: But it's significantly lower pages per cartridge!

Thank god it's not contagious.
