Public Service Announcement: Thinking of buying a 17" laptop soon? Read inside.

Well, if you are looking for a centrino, just pass this thread up. This is for anyone that is looking for a "mobile desktop", essentially. I'm sure a lot of you know of Powernotebooks.com and Go-L.com. I've done a lot of research on "L" and, IMHO, they ARE real. So I've been considering one of their 17.1" laptops. PNB has the same Sager, but with lesser specs, for $500 less.

Here's to the news part:

I called up PNB and spoke to a sales rep. By the end of this month, they will begin taking pre-orders (just a week before they start shipping to have the lappys ready) for the Sager NP4780. The 4780 will have the Canterwood processors, starting at the 2.4C level. They'll also be sporting DCDDR400 and the lovely ATi 9600 Pro 128 mobile edition graphics card. Well, L already has this. Actually...it doesn't. You can't upgrade to the 9600pro until November because they are on backorder. What's more? Instead of that nice $2199 price tag that L has, the 4780 from PNB will only be $100 more than the base model (so $1649).

I'm extremely glad I called and asked. I'm really looking for something that is extremely powerful and a 17" would definately be nice to have, as well. At that price you could upgrade to a DVD-R (w?) and still be under 2 grand! 🙂 I can't wait for Halloween to roll around!

I hope this helps atleast one person out, that's looking to buy soon.

I know....

I just hope they start appearing on lighter, less expensive laptops.
