So, I guess we shouldn't call an MP3 "MP3" either, huh? Extensions/abbreviations/shortenings are useful in the computer world. Imagine if everyone used the longest, most "proper" terminology for everything :Q Would be much more tedious.
suck it!ooooggggggg

big difference. "MP3" is short for Mpeg 1 layer 3, "Ogg" is NOT short for Ogg Vorbis

What do all the names mean?
Vorbis is the name for the specific audio compression scheme used to create Ogg Vorbis files. It is part of the Ogg project, which is a blanket project designed to create a fully open multimedia system. Right now, Ogg Vorbis is the only functional part of the Ogg project which is anywhere near completion.
OGG = THE ENTIRE OGG PROJECT
VORBIS = THE AUDIO PART OF THE OGG PROJECT
OGG VORBIS = THE AUDIO CODEC "VORBIS" IN THE OGG PROJECT.
Stop calling it "ogg" damnit. :frown:
