Public folder sharing with Homegroup

Gooberlx2

When I try to share libraries that have public folders included in them I get the following error:

"The file sharing wizard can't share system folders."

So my personal folders will share, but not the public ones.

such as:

I used the old regedit hack here to get the shell contexts and whatnot to identify the public folders at d: \Users\Public. I've tried everything I can think of with permissions, clearing any supposed System attribute on the folders with attrib.exe, etc...

The only kinda weird thing I've noticed is there are apparently some folders (or junctions probably) at d: \users\public\documents\my video (or my music, or my pictures) that I can't adjust any permissions on. I assume they're hidden junctions for compatibility reasons, and shouldn't really have a baring here.

Any ideas what's going on?

Well...I reverted the registry and just made new "public" folders on the D drive, moved all the files over, adjusted some permissions and added them to my libraries. Sharing seems to work fine now. Something about redirecting the "official" public folder location, via the registry, must've screwed up the sharing. *shrug*
