Pubic hair... purpose?

Subject pretty much says it all... what is the biological purpose for pubic hair? I can understand on guys it could help keep the boys warm, but on chix...?

huh?

The Sun produces radiation. The head has important parts in it that would suffer were they to be irradiated. So does the groin. Children born without hair would have been more likely to be severely irradiated making them less likely to reproduce.... Hair would be a beneficial trait and be naturally selected....

Different hair, different purposes, in certain areas (like the underarm) we still have hair there for friction reduction, in other areas hair is for skin protection and warmth, and then there are areas where hair is simply cosmetic, like the head and face, the amount of hair we have now and the areas where we have it are the result of evolution.
