Only because I have to. This city is turning into a full on hippy town, so not recycling would probably get me strung up by my balls.

No. Though our municipal utilities finally adopted single stream recycling for free so I might do that. Still no glass recycling.

Everything I can, if they don't pick it up curbside I'll save it till I have a decent haul to take in.
Started composting this year too.

Our town gives us two large garbage cans to use. One for garbage, the other for recyclables. I do use the recyclable bin just so I'll have more room for trash in the garbage bin but I wouldn't be actively recycling if I didn't need to.

When I was growing up we recycled everything. But since i live alone, I don't produce enough trash to make recycling worth the effort. So no. I don't feel bad either.

Hell no. I'm a Mother Nature hating conservative.

No surprise there. :D

OP, how long have you worked for the NSA?

I don't keep track of people's responses in these polls. Honest. :p

Absolutely not. Why? Japan turned me off...so now I hate all recycling.

Can you elaborate? :hmm:

Switzerland has one of the highest rates of recycling in the world, partly because you have to pay around 2 bucks for each trash bag, so one tends not to throw out aluminum cans, plastic bottles and paper/cardboard. Easy solution?

Edit: also, recycling is free and convenient.

It's much more intricate and much more of a pain in the ass to recycle there. It varies by local government, but you have to separate your recyclables (e.g. plastic, paper, PET bottles, empty glass, empty cans, paper cartons) and they're picked up at various times...and you have to have it out at that time.

Plastic containers/packages go into one type of bag, paper containers/packages another bag, PET bottles another bag, empty glass into a specific colored tote, empty cans in another bag...Oh, and paper cartons without aluminum coating, you have to take those to a supermarket or government office to dispose of...after you cut it open and let it dry out. And cardboard/newspapers/magazines, separate location again. Oh, and don't forget to rinse your empty cans and crush your PET bottles.

That's recycling.

Waste disposal is much the same...combustible, incombustible, spray cans, large waste. Different bags, times, locations.....pain.

That's odd. Around here, no community requires sorting of recyclables. just throw all the recyclables in one bin. Cans, glass, paper, whatever.

I do and I wish I could recycle more. Our recyclers do not take any plastic except for bottles.

We also compost as much as we can. We share a compost bin with our neighbors.

Nope, and actually I don't think it is offered anyway. I live in an apartment complex with a bunch of buildings and there's just dumpsters to throw your trash in. No idea about recycling.

I'm guessing that most people living there wouldn't do it anyway; they throw trash in the parking lot and are sometimes too fucking lazy to even put a filled bag of garbage in the dumpster.

Nope, with the exception of electronics. Not required to, otherwise.

They only pick the stuff up once a month, so no, I don't recycle much.

Also they're picky as shit, so I put lots of 'unacceptable' recyclables in for spite.

Now that I'm back in America, it is that simple...throw it all into the blue bin. I was just sickened to the process while in Japan, so now I don't want to even exert the effort to do that.
