"Crazy" can have different meanings to different people, but you'll have a hard time convincing me that a man who killed two entirely innocent people in cold blood to prove what was essentially a political point is a model citizen and/or mentally well. I don't find any of the claims in his manifesto particularly hard to believe but he was clearly emotionally unstable and willing to kill innocents.

Emotionally unstable, willing to kill innocents, and mentally unstable? Quite possibly. However, "sociopath"? Not necessarily.

Weren't those innocents just the family of somebody he had a beef with?

We can't all be as honorable as mafiosi...

"Sociopathy" has a specific definition. I don't think he met that definition.

I know that - I was responding to the OP's implication that people saying Dorner was "crazy, narcisisstic and psychopathic" were wrong. I don't see it that way.

I would also take issue with that article in that while Dorner claimed to empathize with gay people and others, he was still willing to kill two people in cold blood without remorse. To me that reflects a lack of empathy consistent with sociopathy.

His first victim, the woman...was apparently his legal "representation" when the LAPD fucked him over.

He said, she didn't do anything to help his case...and she is actually the daughter of one of his superiors.

He DID kill her husband too...and he had nothing to do with any of this.

The woman who was killed, Monica Quan, was the daughter of Randal Quan, who was Dorner's attorney (and a former LAPD captain). The man killed with her was her fiancee, not her husband. As far as I know Dorner never claimed that either of them had wronged him in any way - just that her father had.

Yes, he said his legal representation did nothing to help him. I was confused if it was the daughter or the father that represented him.

I think only thing correct in this is that one of his victims was a woman.

Quan’s father, Randal, was the first Chinese-American captain in the Los Angeles Police Department. Later, as an attorney, he represented Dorner in the officer’s failed appeal of his dismissal to a department Board of Rights.
Dorner allegedly posted an online rant naming Quan and others that says: “I never had the opportunity to have a family of my own, I’m terminating yours.”

The guy lost everything because of the LAPD and snapped.

He went for revenge, and knew that taking out the families would hurt his targets more than killing them would.

He definitely was not a sociopath, just a methodical revenge-killer.

Did he really lose everything? He may have gotten screwed by the LAPD but its not like he went to prison. Fuck ups in all industries move around and get jobs doing the same thing. He could have done something other than kill a basketball coach.

The guy also had level 5 security clearance with the navy, which he lost due to being fired for misconduct. So he lost his job with the LAPD, and lost his ability to re-enter the naval reserves as an intelligence officer. They effectively killed all career paths for this guy.
