"The teacher looked at me and said: 'We have to tell you something. We have to tell you that Victoria's EA went to see a psychic and the psychic asked her if she works with a little girl with the initial V. When the EA said yes, the psychic said, 'Well, you need to know that this girl is being sexually abused by a man between the ages of 23 and 26.'"

Ms. Leduc credits the Children's Aid Society of Simcoe County for its handling of the matter. She said on the following Monday she met with a CAS worker, who quickly decided to close the case.

"She said to me: 'This was an open file, but it is now a shut file. This is ridiculous. I can't believe they are basing this on a psychic, and I'm sorry this happened to you.'"

wow. just wow.

Humans haven't evolved to a point where one can read another's emitted brain radiation waves. That would be cool, though. Instead, we talk.

Knowing that, they should just ban psychic/palm reading/other bullshit and making it illegal.

Guessing the first initial is the most obvious cold reading trick. How the HELL do people fall for cold readings?

I hope they fire every staff member who thought that was a good idea. How fucking dumb can you be? If they are that dumb, they don't need to be working with kids or managing any human being. I could understand if they saw some unusual behavior, but the girl was acting like all the other autistic kids!

"I challenged them and asked if the other children in the class with autism exhibited these behaviours. They said, 'Oh yes, all the time.' But they were not reported to the CAS because they didn't have the psychic's tip."

"We have this policy in place that when in doubt, call and report," said Peter Dudding, executive director of the Child Welfare League of Canada, an organization promoting the protection of vulnerable children.

Yeah, that policy is going to pay off for that school buddy. What was there to doubt? A psychic or a typical autistic child? I feel bad for the mom because I bet there are some retarded people up there who thinks she's letting some guy fool around with her daughter. My head just wants to explode over how retarded this whole thing is. PSYCHICS ARE NOT REAL.

It's one thing for psychics to "conjure" up a dead person to say "I'm happy here, move on with your life" which could be beneficial for someone if they are struggling with a death. It's a whole different thing for their "psychic" visions that can cause serious damage to innocent people's lives. Yes, the school overreacted, but that "psychic" seems to actually believe her BS enough to make damaging statements like that. I'm sure some psychics know everything is just BS and just want the people to come in to have fun with the "mystic arts," but this one actually drinks her own kool-aid.

"Unless they take out a Ouija board and decide to do something else."

I chuckled at that bit, despite how disturbing the story as a whole was.

There's a lot of hate towards psychics on these forums. In all fairness, a large percentage of them probably are scammers, but there are a few who seem to be legit. Many law enforcement cases that have been stuck have been solved with the aid of police psychics.

Ugh.... add yourself to the list of suckers who believes in this nonsense. No, not "some" are scammers, they are all full of crap, though some of them do it for the money, some for attention, some for other reasons, but they are all full of BS.

And, in those cases, who's to say they wouldn't have been solved without the "aid" of psychics? And, how many times has the psychic led cases in the wrong direction that might otherwise have been solved? I'm not googling it, but there was a case with one of those famous psychics where the local idiots (I have a lot of respect for at least my local police, but not for people who believe in psychics) hired the psychic. They drove and the psychic told them when to stop the car along the road - amazingly, she was able to have them stop right where the crime was committed. That "proved" to those police that she really was psychic.

Only later did one of the more intelligent people of the community try to debunk her abilities: the picture of the crime scene had been in the newspaper. (duhhh!!!!) Do you really think that if you hire someone to be a psychic that they're not going to do their homework to at least appear genuine?

edit: I think the Southpark episode pretty much sums it up perfectly.

edit edit: here
there is no credible scientific evidence that psychic power ever solved a crime

It's nearly impossible to prove a fallacy. Thus, I cannot prove that no psychic has ever solved a crime. However, it's pretty easy for you to prove me wrong: all you need is one counterexample. Just one case where a psychic has genuinely helped solve a case. Note: not some idiots interpretation by retrofitting that claims the psychic helped; instead, the neutral opinion of a group of unbiased observers.

There have been numerous offers of money to anyone who can prove their psychic abilities. Large sums of money. Yet, the psychics sit by their tables, making $50 - $100 at a time, doing cold readings, and turn down offers of 10's of thousands or more money to simply prove their psychic ability with a simple test. Here's one offer: here Unfortunately, even in New Zealand, there are suckers born every minute who are willing to believe in psychics.

Questions to ask yourself: if psychics can individually "help solve cases", why can't the entire collective of psychics answer a few of history's puzzles: Where's Jimmy Hoffa's body? They can't even come up with some sort of a broad "vision" "I see water. There's water nearby." Heck, that only rules out the desert. On second thought, it doesn't even rule out the desert. "It's a desert, so water was important. One of the murderers was carrying a cantene." But, if his body were found anywhere in the continental U.S., every psychic who saw water near the body would be absolutely correct.

Incidentally, your "large percentage of them probably are scammers" is about as close to the truth as psychic statements are. It's actually "100%", and you can remove the word "probably." Whoa! I just realized something! You were so close to the truth that *maybe you're psychic!*

i agree. my friend mom is psychic and she defiantly has a gift. she doenst use it outside of th family and the predictions she told me about my future did hold true. Some people really do have the clairvoyance gift. just because science cant prove it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Most people wont be willing to acknowledge that because they don't like the idea of a higher power.

Before we get into that are we simply confusing insight with clairvoyance? I have an aunt too who claims (to her family) she has a gift too. She said one day one branch of our family would be buried in financial failure and it was easy to see who it was.
