Why??? That is all I need to say. Why the heck would you ever pay these ridiculous prices for a PS2 right now? Once supplies start to increase after the Holidays you will be able to pick one up for its regular price of $299. Probably half way through next year Sony will reduce the price further to compete with the X-Box and Gamecube.

Personally I think if anyone pays more than retail they are idiots.

yeah, they'll charge you and never send you anything. check the better business bureau files (if you can), they have a whoreload of complaints, one of them is mine. of course, some people claim they never had problems, so it's a roll of the dice. worth the risk? you decide.

Don't order from buyrite.com, I live up the street from this store and I have learned the hardway. The owner is a ASSHOLE if you have a problem with a product they won't help you with anything, he is a little freak of nature who thinks everyone is out to ripe him off, even his employees hate him.

Has anyone played the damn PS2? its not THAT great...not until better games come out. Tekken Tag is noticeably better, but not 2X retail price better! Wait until the more graphic intensive games out to actually enjoy PS2 and save a few hundred bux along the way!!!

My thoughts exactly--I rented a PS2, and while it nowhere near SUCKS, it's definitely not all that everyone cracks it up to be ("best thing since sliced bread&quot, at least not at this point (will likely change early next year when some better games come out). No way in hell would I pay much above retail for it.

What sucks about the PS2, is you can't play "backup" or "import" copies (wink wink). Maybe there will be a way, but not for a while.

I don't know if anyone else has them yet, but Blockbuster is getting a supply of them in for rent--$19.99 for a 2 controller PS2 for 5-days (in the nifty plastic suitcase), only catch is they stick a $200 auth on your CC (until you return it, then it it's removed).

I heard the DVD video playback of the PSX2 "sucks". But this was from a peer who has too much ego, and thinks his opinions are fact... (btw, the peer makes these statements without ever having seen or used the product)

Anyway, how does the DVD video playback compare in quality and capability to a standalone player? Does it play VCDs?

I'm just asking because my brother doesn't have a DVD player in his new apartment, and if the PSX2 is good enough, he can spend the money to get that instead of a standalone player. Then I could visit him often and play
