I am going to get myself a PXS2 machine. I will install a mod chip on the PSX2.

I've heard the new NEO 4 is going to rock ...

My question is what mod chip should I go for ? is the external mod chip going to be better than the internal modchip like NEO 4 ? What should I look out for ?

Another question is where should I get the modchip + installation ?
Also, where can I buy PSX2 for cheap ?

Thanks

The NEO4 modchip is currently the best mod chip available, but it has a couple drawbacks.

It is expensive. $80.00USD (!)

It has 33 (!)(!) wires to solder on.

I can solder it myself, so I plan on getting one once the price drops a bit.

Neo 4 has 44 wires (both sides of the PCB I hear...UGGG) with all the features used. Wait to see what the Messiah does.

Tired of waiting for the mod chips to become 100% sweet like they are with the PSX, I bought an import PS2 for import games I have and to have the ability to watch Japanese DVDs. Was nice being able to buy it in Japan, but the hassle of purchasing it was more than what I wanted.

I'll be waiting for some newer chips to get released that are 100% clean like the current PSX chips are.

So I assume NEO 4 IS the best modchip out there?

It will play everything right ?

Backup CD-R, DVD-R, Original US & Japanese PSX games ?
Will it play DVD & VCD as well ?

Anyone know of a place where they do installation ?

Thanks !
