PSUs are the most confusing to me...

I currently have a True Power 2 480W. I'm looking to upgrade both my computer and my wife's computer in the next few weeks.

For my build I'm either going i7 or C2Q. I'll be running 2 HDs, probably a GTX260 and will *maybe* do some mild overclocking. Will my current TPII-480 be fine or should I get a better one and dish this one to my wife? (This one is in a combo with the Antec 300 case I want... any opinions on it?)

If my current one is good enough for my "power" build, then I can't go wrong with the cheapest Corsair or an Antec 380 or 430, for my wife's budget build (AMD X2 or e7400 or something), right?

Thanks.

EDIT: I should have thought this through a bit more before I posted. The combo deal I mentioned effectively puts that Rosewill 530 at 39.99. So I guess my only question is whether that PSU is worth buying? Cause if so then it beats the other options I listed above, IMO.

I would certainly upgrade from your TP2 480W if I were you...especially if you are going for a Core i7 build.

Rosewill is a mixed bag. Some of them are absolute crap and some of them are decent units. I wouldn't be suprised if the one you linked is decent, at least it has active power factor correction. I don't know anything about it though.

Personally, if I were spending the money on a Core i7 system and a GTX 260, I would be looking to spend more than $40 on my PSU though.

Something along the lines of this at least

The bolded statement is enough for me to shy away. I value *stability* higher than almost anything. I've had some crap PSUs before, and when your system is unstable it is aggravating to no end.

I've seen the Corsair 650TX recommended a few times around here. I have my eye on that one. It's like $75 after rebate at the egg. Or I'll get one of the Antecs, as I've had very good luck with them over the years.

Thanks for the reply.

I've had a TX650 in a rig for a few months, I'll vouch for it also being good. I've also heard good things about BFGs though, so you'd probably be fine with either one.
